Tarheel Realty II was formed in 2004 and is owned by Larry Hedrick and his daughter Suzanne. Tarheel Auction & Realty was the foundation of the family business started in 1967 by Larry Hedrick and his father-in-law Dwight Goforth. Their primary focus was conducting auctions. After the loss of Dwight in 2004, there was a need to separate the auction and real estate companies therefore creating Tarheel Realty II. As natives of the area, the Tarheel companies have been helping families for over 40 years and are respected by the community for their professionalism and honest reputation. In 2007, Larry handed over the Broker in Charge role to his daughter, Suzanne.

Suzanne brings more than seven years of marketing, sales and negotiating experience to sell your home. As a native of Iredell County, Suzanne knows the area, and she knows how to market it. In 1999, she earned a BS from Catawba College in Business Administration and Marketing and has been a licensed real estate agent since 2002. Her broad background of real estate started more than 15 years ago when she began working closely in her family business with her grandfather, Dwight Goforth and her father Larry Hedrick.

After graduating high school, Larry left his native Iredell County, North Carolina to enroll in the Newport News, Virginia School of Ship Construction to study ship hull structure and design. Larry served as a hull structure designer for two years before returning to Iredell County to join his father in law in a successful farm machinery business.

While attending a farm machinery auction, Larry became interested in the inner workings of the auction business. This led to his attending the Missouri School of Auctioneering, from which he graduated in 1967 as well as receiving his real estate license in 1967.

Hedrick established Statesville Auto Auction in 1976. Under his leadership, Statesville Auto Auction grew in volume from a two-lane auction selling 250 cars per week and a staff of five, to a consignment of over 75,000 cars representing total gross sales of over $440 million and a staff of over 300. In 1993, Hedrick sold Statesville Auto Auction to MANHEIM AUCTIONS, the highest volume automobile auction company in the world.

Kelly was born in Statesville, N.C. She graduated from North Iredell High School in 1993 and from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1997. After college, she worked in the motion picture and television industry and lived in seven states in three years. The constant moving around helped play a role in her decision to help others during the major moves of their lives. This led her to the real estate industry. She decided she wanted to help others during the major moves of their lives, which led her to the real estate industry. She became licensed in 1999 while working for Century 21® Coastal Communities in Wilmington. In 2000, she returned to Statesville and joined Century 21® Eddleman Realty, Inc. She earned her Broker’s license in 2003, and in 2004, became accredited with the ABR designation that certifies her as an Accredited Buyers Representative. Only 4% of REALTORS® hold this designation. She also received the Century 21® Quality Service award based on customer feedback. Kelly is currently in the process of getting her GRI (Graduated Realtor Institute) and CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designations. She has been successful in seller and buyer representation with a majority of her business coming from referrals. Whitney Norton Jr.’s background in sales and marketing has contributed greatly to his success in real estate sales. Whitney grew up in Bucks County, P.A., and his parents gave him the best of both worlds. He is also a member of the Davidson College Presbyterian Church where he is active in high school Sunday school classes as well as new membership orientation.
